Thelma Haywood is an American master perfumer whose artistic vision bridges classical European training with deep cultural roots. Her lifelong dedication to fragrance formulation begins in Berlin, Germany, where she studied at the Freie Universitaet and received direct guidance and mentorship from local, traditional perfume shops. This profound immersive experience shaped her understanding of raw ingredients, scent composition, and olfactory art.

Upon returning to the United States, Ms. Haywood complemented her creative background with rigorous academic discipline, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in German from California State University, Hayward. This unique intersection of language, culture, and science formed the foundation of her luxury house, The Queen of Fragrances Brand®.

For over half a century, Ms. Haywood has resisted corporate imitation by relying on authentic, hand-poured, small-batch formulations. Her creations are characterized by their deep storytelling, linguistic wit, and uncompromising integrity. As an enduring independent artisan, her work ccontinues to serve as an inspiration to the fragrance industry.

The Queen of Fragrances Brand® is an indie luxury perfume house founded in 2000 by master perfumer Thelma Haywood. Headquartered in the culturally rich city of New Orleans, Louisiana, the brand beautifully fuses Creole charm with exotic, tropical influences inspired by the Polynesian Islands. Our boutique perfumes are crafted with attention to detail and quality ingredients, resulting in unique and sophisticated fragrances that cater to a more discerning clientele.
